architectural practice
My architectural practice moved away from exhibitions and into a focus on residential additions and renovation in the New York metropolitan area (New York City, Connecticut and New Jersey). I normally have around a dozen projects: those in New York City include townhouse renovations, adding conservatories, joining and renovating apartments and in Westchester and Connecticut designing house additions and renovations for high-end clients. Clients are in a wide range from developers, multi-national corporations (for industrial warehouses), and private individuals. Each client is treated specially and each project is unique: all of them with aesthetic and practical considerations and some of them requiring subtle energy skills as well.
I am integrating “green” design principles, equipment and construction practices into all architectural projects to save on energy consumption by conserving energy and reducing the “carbon footprint” of all buildings to reduce global warming effects. Construction materials are specified that are healthy for building users, not out-gassing harmful VOC’s (volatile organic compounds), and the environment. Sustainable building products are specified. When possible, building materials are recycled, site orientation and climate are taken into effect, and solar, wind and geothermal energy systems are employed to decrease a building’s dependency on carbon produced energy. |
